Friendship Village Expands Renovation Project

According to the Dayton Business Journal, over a year after announcing a $4 million renovation, Trotwood retirement Community Friendship Village is increasing its renovation project. The company has nearly doubled its budget to $6-8 million and added cosmetic renovation projects throughout the campus in order to stay competitive in the growing retirement industry.

Friendship Village currently has about 300 residents and ranks fifth on the Dayton Business Journal’s list of the largest assisted living and retirement communities.  Friendship Village has been in business for 30 years.

After it sale to Dayton Healthcare Investors LLC in 2006, Friendship Village was slated for an overhaul to catch it up with others in the area.  Having spent $4.2 million already, the project is still moving forward.

In June Friendship Village will begin a $700,000 renovation of its main building exterior and common area entrance.  They will also be adding new carpeting throughout the complex, retooling the existing health center and finishing enhancements to the nursing home.

These improvements as well as a new electronic records system and other smaller projects have brought Friendship Village to the $6-8 million price tag.
