Ice Cream Distributor Breaks Ground At Trotwood’s Commerce Park
(Trotwood, Ohio, September 6, 2005) – With a group of nearly 50 elected officials, staff and residents on hand to participate, the City of Trotwood hosted an official groundbreaking today for its newest business partner, O’Danny Boy Ice Cream and their future distribution center located in Trotwood’s Commerce Park.
Said Trotwood Mayor Donald K. McLaurin, “On behalf of the City of Trotwood Council and staff, we are very pleased to welcome this promising family owned business to our growing family of businesses here. We wish O’Danny Boy great success, and will do anything we can to ensure their long term success as part of our continuing efforts towards turning things around for this community.”
O’Danny Boy is an ice cream products distributor providing wholesale service to convenience stores and similar retail venues throughout the region. Today’s groundbreaking event marked the beginning of construction for its new 5,000 square foot facility to house its operations and office space. The modern facility is being built on a 1.75-acre parcel in Trotwood’s Commerce Park, conveniently located close to the Trotwood Connector with easy access to both I-75 and I-70.
“We’re very excited to be putting our stake in the ground right here in Trotwood,” said President Daniel Haas. “The City leadership and its economic development professionals have been extremely supportive and innovative in helping bring my family’s business plan to fruition. They’ve made us feel right at home. And we plan on being here for a very long time.”
Daniel’s mother and O’Danny Boy Ice Cream co-owner Kathleen Haas was also on hand for the groundbreaking. Construction is slated for completion this fall, with the O’Danny Boy facility expected to be fully operational by years end 2005.
